SpinningBabies®
Parent Class
A 3-hour childbirth class covering techniques & education on baby’s active role
Spinning Babies® is a physiological approach to preparing for and caring for birth.
During birth, babies descend through the pelvis by turning to fit each curve in the passage. Baby’s turns are “fetal rotation.” If fetal rotation can be made easier, birth is easier for everyone. By understanding birth physiology better, we can help birth be easier.

-
Activate.
Rather than increasing technology or medication to help childbirth, we activate nature within the body by working with the body in new ways. We begin with physiology and move to interventions if and when needed.
-
Restore.
Self-care and specific body activities restore body balance and make room for the baby. Babies then put themselves into the best positions possible for childbirth – within the anatomical space available.
-
Ease.
SpinningBabies® Parent Class is a unique pregnancy preparation class with labor activities that have been shown to ease birth. These techniques can be used with any childbirth method or none at all. Spinning Babies® approach is good in any childbirth setting, home, hospital, and independent birth center.

FAQs

Spinning actually refers to the spin or rotation that baby makes during the last parts of pregnancy and in labor. I guess you could spin in a circle, but we won’t be teaching it :)
-
Wrong! Breech does not automatically mean that you need a cesarean. Many providers are starting to birth breech babies now with extra training and care. Other options are for a doctor to manually attempt to turn your baby, but our favorite option is exercise using SpinningBabies techniques safely!

We recommend this class to anyone, but it is not a full circle childbirth education class. This class is more like an excellent module to add on to any previous childbirth class you’ve taken, or in addition to a class you plan to take!

The usual techniques will not typically put an anterior baby who is in a good position already into a poor position. Hundreds, if not thousands, of women are doing inversions now, as you read this, and not having their head down babies go breech. Many are reporting more comfort and easier births.

22 weeks is usually the typical time I tell people to take the class, but anytime during your pregnancy will be helpful!
